Simply The Best, The Man & Some of His Best! - This is vintage James Brown at his best. I recently purchased a new Porsche and this was the first CD that I played, and Out of Sight was played as loud as I could! People all up and down the street smiled, nodded, or in other ways acknowledged me and the car, but mostly, the man and his songs! This was my era, an era that will never come again, nor can it be copied. James gave us funk, music and PRIDE! Buy this CD and you will see what I mean.
Good but some filler songs, too - I was around during this time period, and saw James Brown live because he was my mother s favorite live performer. I was surprised, however, at the number of filler songs in this collection. Some remastering would have been nice, too. Standout songs that held up for me were Out of Sight, Money Won t Change You, Cold Sweat, and I Don t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing. Even though the instrumentals on Say It Loud sound a little stark now, I remember how I felt when I heard the song over the radio back then. It was a bold message and messenger, truly uplifting for its time.

One of the Best JB compilations - Truly a fine compilation and very nicely packaged. I like the CD being in the sturdy(!) slip-case.The song choice is great. The Live Cuts are Killer. I have no regrets with this purchase!Of the many JB comps I own this is my 2nd favorite (In A Jungle Groove is the first!).Alan Bryan
